(I masu)

be doing (progressive); be in the state of having done (resultant state).

Connection rules

  • Verb-て + います
  • For action verbs (eat, read, walk), -ています expresses ongoing action.
  • For change-of-state verbs (get married, come to know, die), -ています expresses resultant state.

I'm reading a book right now.
