(Te)

connecting form (basis for many compound constructions).

Connection rules

＋Ichidan: drop る, add て (食べる → 食べて). Godan: depends on ending — う/つ/る → って; ぬ/ぶ/む → んで; く → いて; ぐ → いで; す → して. Irregular: する → して, くる → きて.
＋行く is irregular: 行って (not いいて).
＋The て-form alone can also express a sequence: 朝起きて顔を洗う — 'get up in the morning and wash my face'.

毎朝まいあさコーヒーを飲のんで新聞しんぶんを読よみます。

Maiasa kouhii o non de shinbun o yomi masu.

I drink coffee and read the newspaper every morning.
