Connection rules
- ＋Ichidan: drop る, add た (食べる → 食べた). Godan: same pattern as the て-form, with た/だ instead of て/で (行く → 行った, 話す → 話した, 飲む → 飲んだ). 行く is irregular: 行った. Irregular: する → した, くる → きた.
- ＋Parallels the て-form in conjugation rules exactly.
- ＋Past negative plain: -なかった.
