(Desu)

な-adjective non-past.

Connection rules

  • Stem + です (polite) or + だ (plain). Attributive form adds な before a following noun.
  • Common な-adjectives: 静か, 元気, 便利, 親切, 有名, きれい (note: きれい looks like an い-adjective but is actually な-adj), 嫌い (same).
  • Past, negative, and other forms use copula forms (see deshita, dewa-arimasen).

Kono heya wa shizuka desu.

This room is quiet.
