Connection rules

  • Not yet: まだ + V ていない / まだ + V ていません. Still: まだ + V ている / まだ + V ています.
  • 'Not yet' uses the progressive negative — a common error point for English speakers who reach for the simple past negative instead.
  • 'Still' uses the progressive affirmative.
