(Mairu)

The humble form of the verbs 'to come' (kuru) or 'to go' (iku).

Connection rules

  • Replacement for 来る (kuru) and 行く (iku)
  • Used to show humility regarding one's movement

Examples

すぐにそちらへまいります。

Sugu ni sochira he mairi masu.

I will go over there right away.

Responding to a summons

毎年まいとしはかまいります。

Maitoshi o haka ni mairi masu.

I visit the grave every year.
