Used for naming something or reporting what someone said.
Connection rules
- ＋Noun A + という + Noun B (B called A)
- ＋Sentence (Plain form) + という (The fact/report that...)
Examples

これは「納豆」という日本の食べ物です。
Kore ha ‘ nattou ’ toiu nippon no tabemono desu.
This is a Japanese food called 'Natto'.
