Used for naming something or reporting what someone said.

Connection rules

  • Noun A + という + Noun B (B called A)
  • Sentence (Plain form) + という (The fact/report that...)

Examples

1.
これは「納豆なっとう」という日本にっぽんものです。

Kore ha ‘ nattou ’ toiu nippon no tabemono desu.

This is a Japanese food called 'Natto'.
