(Naku te)
Used to connect negative clauses or indicate a cause/reason for the following state.
Connection rules
- ＋Noun + じゃなくて / ではなくて
- ＋い-Adj (drop い) + くなくて
- ＋な-Adj + じゃなくて
Examples
1.
この部屋は広くないですが、とてもきれいです。
Kono heya ha hiroku nai desu ga, totemo kirei desu.
This room is not spacious, but it is very clean.

答えが分からなくて、困りました。
Kotae ga wakara naku te, komari mashi ta.
I didn't know the answer, so I was in trouble.
