ようとする
(You to suru)
Describes an attempt to do something or an action that is just about to start.
Connection rules
- ＋Verb (Volitional form) + としる
- ＋Used for actions about to happen or attempts
Examples
1.
彼は一番になろうとして、一生懸命走っています。
Kare ha ichiban ni naro u toshite, isshoukenmei hashi te i masu.
He is running hard, trying to become number one.

家を出ようとしたとき、雨が降り出しました。
Ie wo deyo u to shi ta toki, ame ga furidashi mashi ta.
Just as I was about to leave the house, it started to rain.
