Connection rules

  • V ます-stem + そうにない (neutral) / そうもない (slightly more emphatic). Irregular: いい → よさそうにない (rare).
  • Appearance-based negation — no sign of X happening.
  • そうもない is slightly more emphatic than そうにない.
