(Sae)

if only / as long as (the minimal condition is met).

Connection rules

  • V ます-stem + さえすれば; noun + さえ + plain-form verb conditional (e.g., さえあれば, さえなければ).
  • Sufficient condition — X alone is enough for Y.
  • Common fixed forms: さえあれば ('if only there's X'), さえすれば ('if only one does X').

Examples

Okane sae are ba, nani demo kaeru.

As long as you have money, you can buy anything.
