Connection rules
- ＋V plain / i-adj + こととて; na-adj + な + こととて; noun + の + こととて.
- ＋Formal / literary causal — apologetic register.
- ＋Very common in polite apologies: 初めてのこととて, 急なこととて.
Examples

Hajimete no koto to te, futegiwa o oyurushi kudasai.
Since it's my first time, please forgive any mishandling.
