(Kano uchi ni)

no sooner (had X) than Y / barely had one Xed when Y.

Connection rules

  • V dict + か + same V ない-form + かのうちに + main clause.
  • Near-simultaneous events — the main clause event is nearly overlapping.
  • More emphatic of simultaneity than 〜たとたん.
