out of excess / from too much.

Connection rules

  • V plain + あまり; i-adj + さ + の + あまり; na-adj + な + あまり / noun (emotion) + の + あまり.
  • Expresses an excess of emotion / sensation leading to an unusual result.
  • Common with nominalized emotions: 驚きのあまり, 嬉しさのあまり, 悲しみのあまり.
