Connection rules
- ＋V-た + あげく(に); noun + の + あげく(に). Attributive: 〜あげくの + noun.
- ＋Negative / disappointing final outcome — after much struggle.
- ＋Contrast with 〜末に, which can have a positive or neutral main clause.
Examples

散々悩んだあげく、結局何も決められなかった。
Sanzan nayan da ageku, kekkyoku nani mo kime rare naka ta.
After endlessly worrying, in the end I couldn't decide anything.

Kenka no ageku, futari wa wakare te shima ta.
