Connection rules
- ＋V-た + あげく(に); noun + の + あげく(に). Attributive: 〜あげくの + noun.
- ＋Negative / disappointing final outcome — after much struggle.
- ＋Contrast with 〜末に, which can have a positive or neutral main clause.
