Connection rules
- ＋V volitional + にも + same V potential negative. E.g., 行こうにも行けない, 言おうにも言えない.
- ＋Double-verb structure — the same verb appears in volitional + にも and potential negative.
- ＋Literary register — common in narratives of frustrated action.
