Connection rules
- +V dict-form + べくして + (usually the same verb in past). Common pattern: 〜べくして + 〜た.
- +Literary inevitability — 'as fate would have it'.
- +Often with same verb repeated: 起こるべくして起こる, 勝つべくして勝つ.
